Anyone who wishes to fly within the United States without a passport will be required to have a Real ID compliant driver's license or ID starting May 7, 2025.

The Real ID looks similar to any other driver's license, but it has a star in the upper right corner.

Current driver's licenses will still be valid for driving and basic identification but may not be used for domestic flight identification.

A passport, or another federally approved form of identification, may be used in place of Real ID to fly within the United States.

To get one in Connecticut, you will need to show two forms of valid identification, a copy of your social security card and proof of state residency.

Connecticut is requiring all first-time, and out of state license transfers to be Real ID compliant.

If you aren't due for a license renewal, and would like a Real ID, you can request a new driver's license or ID for a $30 duplicate fee.
