Indian River County is pleased to announce Phil Matson as the County’s new Director of Community Development, effective January 31st, 2020.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mr. Matson brings nearly twenty years of experience working within Indian River County. Most recently, Mr. Matson served as the Staff Director for the Indian River County Metropolitan Planning Organization and was responsible for all transportation-related planning in the urbanized area of Indian River County. Prior to joining Indian River County, Mr. Matson spent time in Senior Planning Management positions with Broward County and Port Everglades.
Mr. Matson will take over for Roland DeBlois, who is currently serving as the Interim Director of Community Development. Upon Mr. Matson’s effective start date, Mr. DeBlois will assume the role of Planning Director for Indian River County.
The Indian River County Community Development Department is tasked with establishing and implementing a comprehensive planning program to guide and control future development within Indian River County. The planning process is intended to promote, protect, and improve the public health, safety, and general welfare of the community while also preventing overcrowding and protecting the natural resources of Indian River County.
